Serzat Safaltin

Education: B.S. Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Istanbul Technical University, 2015
M.Sc. Extractive Metallurgical Technologies Engineering, Istanbul Technical University, 2018

Bio: Prior to joining the research group in 2021, Serzat earned his BS in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 2015. He spent 2 years in his startup and worked on cryogenic processing of polymer granules for 3D printing industry, while he also pursued MS graduate study to develop conductive inks. Later, he joined ITU as a research assistant. Then he became visiting researcher at University of Massachusetts, Amherst as a part of EU H2020 project, where he worked on collaborative research including semiconductor device simulation and cleanroom fabrication. Serzat has an interest in computational materials science to bridge the gap between simulation methods by developing effective potentials.

Current Research:  Development of novel III-V nitride based ferroelectric materials for optoelectronic applications via first-principles methods.

Favorite Computer Command: grep

Outside the Lab: Scuba diving, iaido.
