Year: 2014

Yomery, Tumerkan and Burc’s study on ferroelectric films dielectric buffer layers published in Applied Physics Letters

Yomery, Tumerkan and alumnus Dr. Misirlioglu (Sabanci Univ) computed the dielectric and pyroelectric properties of  ferroelectric films with linear dielectric buffer layers. The calculations show that the dielectric and pyroelectric properties of such multilayers can be increased by the presence of the buffer compared to ferroelectric monolayers. The findings of this paper suggest that the performance of pyroelectric based energy conversion devices (thermal to electric and electric to thermal) could benefit from having interposed dielectric buffer layers between electrodes.

Tumerkan and Dr. Misirlioglu show that higher pyroelectric properties can be achieved in layer-by-layer engineered ferroelectric superlattices.

Results of the theoretical study carried out in collaboration with alumnus Dr. Misirlioglu at Sabanci University published in Applied Physics Letters.
